Purbo-Poshchim Band History
In 2002, Kartik, a guitarist from the famous Folk-Fusion Band ‘Bangla,’ asked me (Zubair Malik) to play the flute. Ahsanul Hadi Adil (guitar) and Arup (bass guitar) joined, along with Tony from the band ‘Black.’ Thus, Purbo-Poshchim was formed. Initially, Kartik considered singing, inspired by Arnob, but the flute soon became the dominant instrument.

We participated in the Benson & Hedges Star Search 2002 and won two awards: Best Drummer and Best Other Instrumentalists. After six months, Kartik left the band. In 2004, Adil and Arup left, with Bipu joining as a guitarist and Tusher as a keyboardist. Over the years, our bassists changed frequently, and in 2009, Tony left the band.

From 2009 to 2013, the band remained inactive. We revived in 2014 with Bipu still on guitar, Ian Martin as a keyboardist, Sazib on bass until 2018, and Tarek bin Taher on drums from 2014-2015. Later, Sudipta Bardhan Shubho joined as a guest drummer and percussionist and continues to play with us.

Our journey has been filled with many ups and downs, which we will share with our audience gradually. Stay blessed!
